We’re Sam and Emily, and we write about pop culturey things.

Sam lives in Chicago and has a particular fondness for movies, the Oscars, and the Indianapolis Colts. Also food trucks, but this will not turn into a food blog, she swears. In her spare time she works full time at a library and translates French into English on a freelance basis.  

Emily lives in the Twin Cities metro area and watches too much TV. She works as a metrologist at a calibration lab which tells you very little about what her job actually is. It involves a lot of spreadsheets.

And what’s with the blog name, now?

The name of the blog is a reference to one of the funniest scenes in the criminally underseen black comedy In Bruges, our mutual love of which was one of the founding moments in our friendship. It’s about two hitmen hanging out in Bruges, Belgium after a job goes wrong, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Ralph Fiennes, and written and directed by playwright Martin McDonagh. It might be the closest thing to a perfect screenplay ever written (Sam’s words).
